Korte beschrijving/Annotatie

33 short stories in which British humour and satire are given full rein. The themes are varied but they are all concerned with us humans and our idiosyncrasies. Taboo subjects are not shied away from.

Tekst achterflap

Using a unique combination of prose and poetry, together with a mixture of humour, poignancy and satire, our everyday lives are held up for inspection. David Mahoney is a non-judgemental observer of human behaviour, preferring his readers to examine their own feelings and convictions. Although the themes vary widely, they all hold up a mirror to our humanity and to our human frailties. Laughter, however, does help the medicine go down. Taboo subjects are not shied away from, but neither are they used to cause offence.

Biografie

David Mahoney (1954) was born in Wednesbury in The West Midlands. He left England at the age of 19 to work and travel in The Far East and on his return to Europe he settled in the Netherlands. It was here that he started a family and discovered his love of teaching. Once he had gained his Bachelor's and Master's degree in English Language and Literature, his 35-year teaching career took off. Following his retirement, he turned to writing. His debut volume of short stories, In The Year 2066, was published in 2021 and his second volume, All Together Now, came out two years later.
